Dangote Petroleum Refinery Partners with Honeywell to Boost Fuel Output and Efficiency

Dangote Petroleum Refinery

Mumbai: Honeywell announced the deployment of advanced connected services, digital performance monitoring, and workforce training solutions at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery facility in Lekki, Nigeria.

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery, recognized as the world’s largest single-train petroleum refinery, will leverage these technologies to optimize throughput and reliability.

Through this collaboration, Honeywell Performance+ Services—part of the company’s Connected Solutions ecosystem—will be implemented across key processing units at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery.

The initiative is aimed at increasing the production of high-octane fuels from diverse feedstocks while ensuring maximum output and operational efficiency.

By integrating advanced digital tools delivered via the Honeywell Forge platform with the expertise of Honeywell UOP engineers and specialists, the Dangote Petroleum Refinery will gain access to real-time operational insights. These insights will help identify potential issues and recommend corrective actions, enabling optimal plant performance and improved asset utilization.

“As global energy demand grows, refineries must operate with greater agility, reliability and efficiency,” said Ken West, president and CEO of Honeywell Process Technology.

“Honeywell’s Connected Solutions pair advanced automation and digital capabilities with more than a century of deep refining expertise to help customers like Dangote improve operational performance, enhance asset reliability and unlock greater value from their facilities.”

In addition to digital performance solutions, Honeywell will deploy advanced training and simulation technologies at the Dangote Petroleum Refinery to strengthen workforce capabilities. Built using digital twins of the refinery’s infrastructure, Honeywell’s Operator Training Simulators (OTS) will allow personnel to train in realistic, scenario-based environments. This will enhance operator readiness, enable safer decision-making, and support continuous skill development.

“The Dangote Petroleum Refinery is designed to set a new global benchmark for scale, efficiency and output,” said Aliko Dangote, President of Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE.

“Honeywell’s Performance+ Services and training programs support our ability to maximize output and achieve operational excellence by developing local talent to run operations safely and reliably as we ramp up production to meet the world’s growing energy needs.”
